STORY

Story
It's Christmas Eve and Santa's given Barney and his friends a special job to take Derek (the new kid in the neighborhood) to see if Santa knows his Address. After arriving in Barney's special sleigh, the kids frolic on the ice, pretend to be elves in Santa's workshop and learn from Mrs. Claus that "doing things for others is what Christmas is all about."

This is also Rickey Carter's debut as Derek, replacing Jason (Salim Grant).

This was the first Barney & the Backyard Gang video to feature a Barney costume with a lighter magenta tone (whereas the previous three videos had a Barney with a darker bluish-violet tone) which would stay that way well into the Barney & Friends (1992) show.

The first of 3 Christmas themed Barney episodes the other 2 would be Barney's Christmas Star and Barney's Night Before Christmas.

This is one of only two Backyard videos where Barney does not revert into his doll form at the end; instead he reads The Night Before Christmas with Michael and Amy. The other one is Barney in Concert. This is also the first video not to show the Barney doll.

Barney is not seen coming to life instead he is seen climbing down the chimney.
