Welcome Home is a Hindi crime thriller that is intense at its core. The film is a rather refreshing entry into this genre, which has largely been plagued by cliched plot lines. Written by Ankita Narang, and based on a true story, Welcome Home is the story of two women held hostage as they attempt to figure out and escape their grim situation. This is a classic chamber thriller, which has been executed really well. On top of that, the movie has the subtle social commentary on patriarchy in Indian society, something which again it manages to portray well. There is some extremely gory violence in the film, putting it on par with some good foreign films in the genre. The acting performances by the two lead actresses is superb, as they appear to be made for the roles they are in. All in all, if you are into good crime thrillers with mystery, this is the one to watch.
