Most of the actors were stage actors from The State Theater. Kagiso Lediga did not not do auditions for their parts he just sat with them, as a group, with a camera, and he asked them to tell him about themselves. They did not know he was casting them mentally. Kagiso Lediga talks about this in most of his interviews about the movie.
Sadly, Sibusiso Khwinana (Lefa), was fatally stabbed by robbers when he and Tebatso Mashishi (Papi) were robbed outside a Pretoria cinema complex in March 2019. The State Theatre, where Kagiso Lediga secretly auditioned him and most of the cast, has named one of its theatres after him; The Sibusiso Khwinana Theatre. The State Theatre is in Pretoria.
Thapelo Tips Seemise is mostly known as a standup comedian but he is also a dance and choreography graduate (Johannesburg Dance Foundation 2006). He started standup comedy after entering a standup comedy reality show, "So You Think You're Funny", in 2009.

Thapelo "T.I.P.S" Seemise's other nickname is "Shampoo" or "Shamponaiza" which he got from his character "Shampoo" from the movie "Taxi Ride". His co-starring in that movie was Sifiso Nene whom he competed against on "So You Think You're Funny" in 2009. Sifiso Nene was the winner of that show's first season.
