Sir Lancelot and Darby Jones virtually repeated the same roles they had created in RKO's very successful 1943 venture, I Walked with a Zombie (1943). Both are set on the same fictional Caribbean island of San Sebastian.

The jungle scenes were filmed on the sets used for RKO's Tarzan series.

Bela Lugosi does not appear until exactly 20 minutes in. He, once again, plays a "mad scientist".

By the of the films release date of may 1, 1945, actor Russell ( benny) Hopton died on april 7, 1945

Bela Lugosi and Ian Wolfe had worked together 10 years prior, in The Raven (1935). They share no scenes together here.
