KRAFTON India has announced that pre-registration for BGMI Lite will open for Android users in India on August 25, 2026. The lighter version of the popular battle royale game is scheduled to launch in India by the end of 2026. Let’s look at what’s been officially revealed so far.

BGMI Lite pre-registration details

Android users in India will be able to pre-register for BGMI Lite on Google Play from August 25. KRAFTON has confirmed that the game will launch in the country by the end of 2026, although it has not provided an exact release date yet. The initial download size will be around 1GB, which is substantially smaller than the standard BGMI app and could make the Lite version easier to install on devices with limited storage.

Existing BGMI players also have a simpler path to the new game, as KRAFTON says they will not need to transfer their existing accounts before playing BGMI Lite. For iOS users, KRAFTON says it will share details about availability and pre-registration at a later date.

BGMI Lite is meant to reach a wider audience

BGMI Lite is designed to make the popular game accessible to users who do not have powerful smartphones. The standard BGMI is a demanding affair even on higher-end smartphones, particularly for players who want higher frame rates and better graphics settings.

The Lite version should offer a comparable experience for users with entry-level or older smartphones. While KRAFTON has not yet shared full system requirements or detailed gameplay changes, the smaller download size implies that the graphical assets have been switched to a lower-res version to help optimise the title for lower-end phones.

KRAFTON is expected to share more details about BGMI Lite as it gets closer to launch, including information about the game’s features and supported devices.

Why the need for BGMI Lite?

BGMI Lite is a timely announcement given the current Indian smartphone market. Anyone following smartphone launches and the wider consumer technology space will know that rising RAM and storage costs have pushed smartphone prices higher across segments. As a result, more buyers with limited budgets are likely to stick with entry-level or older devices for longer.

That changes the equation for KRAFTON because a large part of BGMI’s potential audience includes students and younger users, many of whom may not have access to expensive smartphones. If hardware costs continue to rise, the existing pool of users capable of running the regular version of BGMI smoothly could remain limited.

A Lite version could help KRAFTON address that gap by offering a smaller and more hardware-friendly version of the game. BGMI Lite could allow users on budget devices to experience one of India’s most popular battle royale titles without upgrading to a more expensive smartphone.
