While Several OPPO, OnePlus, and Realme smartphones are currently part of the ColorOS 17 closed beta testing programme, OPPO is hosting the yearly OPPO Developer Conference (ODC) in China in September. During the annual event, OPPO will unveil ColorOS 17, detail its features, and list eligible devices. Over the past couple of days, the company has already teased several design and animation changes coming to the next iteration of ColorOS.

ColorOS 17 will be unveiled during the OPPO Developer Conference (ODC) on September 17th in China. Along with the ColorOS keynote, OPPO will touch on several themes, including how OPPO will contribute to the smart service ecosystem, gaming, business growth, and sports and health. The update is highly likely to be based on Android 17.
Per the official teasers released by OPPO China, ColorOS 17’s design highlight is “Fluid fusion” animation, in which the overlays in most first-party apps wiggle and stretch based on your fingerprint movement. These overlay elements include buttons, the bottom navigation bar, and search bars.
From the looks of it, these teasers corroborate ColorOS Director’s claims that ColorOS 17 will emphasise the experience, stability, and fluidity of the software rather than bringing monumental changes or revamps. After all, ColorOS 16 itself introduced a host of productivity, customisation, and AI features, so it makes sense for OPPO developers to refine and improve what’s already out there.
Users with devices eligible for ColorOS 17 can consider the beta if they’re eager to test new features and are comfortable with potential bugs, otherwise, waiting for the stable release is advisable.
