Google has officially entered the Bluetooth tracker segment with the launch of the Pixel Tag, similar to Apple’s popular AirTag. Unveiled alongside the company’s latest Pixel 11 series, the accessory is designed to help users keep track of everyday items such as keys, wallets, bags, and luggage through Google’s Find Hub network. The Pixel Tag marks Google’s first dedicated item tracker and comes integrated with Gemini, UWB, and more features for a more complete experience.
Google Pixel Tag price in India, availability
Pricing details for the Pixel Tag are available on the Google Store. The Google Pixel Tag is priced at Rs 3,799 for a single pack, while a pack of four costs Rs 12,900. It will be available in a single Fog colour option and is scheduled to go on sale in November through the Google India online store.
The Pixel Tag costs the same as the Apple AirTag, which is priced at Rs 3,790 for the single unit and Rs 12,900 for the 4-pack.
Google Pixel Tag features
The Pixel Tag combines Bluetooth and Ultra-Wideband connectivity to help users locate misplaced belongings with greater accuracy. Through Google’s Find Hub, compatible Pixel smartphones can provide directional guidance, making it easier to pinpoint the exact location of the tracker rather than simply estimating its proximity.
Google has also integrated the tracker with Gemini. Users can ask Gemini to ring the Pixel Tag, while the built-in speaker can also be triggered remotely from the Find Hub app. The tracker includes a physical button that offers a handy reverse-find feature: pressing it makes a paired Pixel phone ring even if it has been set to silent mode.
Fast Pair support enables quick setup with Pixel devices, as you would normally do with other Bluetooth devices like headphones. The Pixel Tag is powered by a replaceable CR2032 coin-cell battery, with Google claiming it can last for more than a year before requiring replacement.
The tracker carries an IP67 rating for dust and water resistance, meaning it can survive accidental splashes and brief immersion in water up to one metre for 30 minutes. It also includes an accelerometer and is built using a combination of polycarbonate and metal. The device measures 28 x 46.1 x 5.4mm and weighs just 11.8g.
The Pixel Tag is compatible with smartphones running Android 9 or newer and is backed by a one-year warranty.
In comparison to the AirTag, the Pixel Tag differentiates itself through tighter integration with the Android ecosystem. Features such as Gemini voice commands, Fast Pair, reverse phone finding, and Find Hub integration make the Pixel Tag particularly appealing for Android users. However, it’s worth noting that some advanced features, including precision finding through UWB, require compatible Pixel smartphones. Users with older Android devices will still be able to use standard Bluetooth-based tracking, but may not get the full experience.
If you frequently misplace everyday essentials or travel regularly with luggage, the Pixel Tag could prove useful. Also, since the product is from Google, even if you’re missing a few features, the experience should still be the most seamless among other Bluetooth trackers.
