What the Infinix Smart 20 has to offer

The highlight of the Infinix Smart 20 revolves around its design and build, which measures just 7.7mm in thickness and carries an IP64 rating, making it one of the thinnest smartphones in the segment. Paired with the funky colours on offer, the phone is well-suited for users who wish to rock something distinct.

The smartphone carries a punch-hole style 6.78-inch HD+ LCD display with up to 120Hz refresh rate. While the typical brightness levels stand at 560 nits, the high brightness value stands at 700 nits. Despite being an LCD panel, the phone comes with Always On Display (AOD), which should power the screen for just a few seconds to display the time and notifications.

Running on the MediaTek Helio G81 Ultimate chipset, the Smart 20 should offer a performance bump over the Smart 10’s Unisoc T7250 processor. That said, the processor is likely to suffice for light usage scenarios, such as calling, watching videos, chatting on WhatsApp, and web browsing. The phone features LPDDR4X RAM and EMMC storage type.

For photography, there’s an 8MP rear camera and an 8MP selfie shooter. Since it’s a budget-oriented smartphone, expect it to deliver just usable shots. The video recording is capped at 2K 30FPS on both front and rear cameras.

The Smart 20 runs on the latest XOS 16, based on Android 16. Announced just a few months ago, the new iteration of XOS brings a light-glass design, a revamped quick settings panel, a host of lockscreen and homescreen customisation options, and AI features for productivity. At this point in time, there’s no information on the software update policy.

Lastly, the Smart 20 runs on a 5,200mAh battery with support for 15W charging and 5W reverse wired charging. Since the display doesn’t have many pixels to push, it should offer enough endurance for a day or more.

Should you buy the Infinix Smart 20?

Starting at Rs 12,499, the Infinix Smart 20 would be a preferred choice for those in need of a budget smartphone without 5G being their top priority. Based on our experience with the Smart 10, the Smart 20 should offer workable performance for daily use, while delivering enough battery life for a day. The slim 7.7mm build further adds to the phone’s portability, making it easy to carry around.

Until last year, brands offered 5G phones for as little as Rs 7,000. The rise in memory prices has forced all manufacturers to offer smartphones at significantly higher rates. Therefore, the Smart 20 coming with 4G-only capabilities above Rs 10,000 is a result of the shifting market dynamics.
