iQOO 15R specifications say it all

One doesn’t need to guess who this smartphone appeals to, looking at the specifications. With its 7,600mAh battery, the handset will comfortably last you a day and then some on moderate to heavy usage. Backing that backup is a Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 SoC ticking at its core, which can handle pretty much everything thrown at it. Furthermore, the SoC is paired with LPDDR5X Ultra RAM and UFS 4.1 storage for quick app launch and data transfer speeds, respectively. iQOO has included its Supercomputing Chip Q2 to enable support for 144fps on the smartphone for a seamless gaming experience.
Display-wise, the iQOO 15R sports a 6.59-inch AMOLED display with a centred punch-hole, 1.5K resolution, a 144Hz refresh rate, and up to 5,000 nits of peak brightness. The handset boots Android 16-based OriginOS 6 out of the box, with support for 4 major OS versions upgrades and six years of security updates.
In optics, the iQOO 15R features a dual-rear camera setup, comprising a 50MP Sony LYT 700 primary sensor and an 8MP ultrawide lens. Unfortunately, there is no telephoto camera, which holds superiority in portraits. For selfies and video calling, the handset relies on a 32MP front-facing camera. Other features include 100W FlashCharge, bypass charging, and IP68/ IP69 rating.
How does iQOO 15R compare against OnePlus 15R?
The OnePlus 15R (review) is another smartphone that comes with a Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 SoC and a big 7,400mAh battery, backed by relatively slower 80W fast charging. The handset can be yours starting at Rs 47,999, which makes it Rs 3,000 more expensive than the iQOO 15R’s actual selling price. On paper, the OnePlus 15R outshines the iQOO offering with up to 165fps gaming and a slightly larger display, which can be essential for gaming. That said, the iQOO 15R’s display is brighter with 5,000 nits peak brightness as opposed to 3,200 nits on the OnePlus 15R.
Moving on, the OnePlus 15R comes with an additional IP69K rating, which can take on high temperatures and high-pressure water jets. The other aspects are pretty much identical, including the cameras (in terms of resolution, not sensors), ultrasonic fingerprint scanner, RAM and storage configurations, comparable software, and a bunch of AI features.
So, buying the iQOO 15R over the OnePlus 15R ultimately comes down to your usage habits. If you’re after a gaming-focused device that delivers power-packed performance in a relatively compact form factor, the handset makes a strong case for itself.
