iQOO 16T tipped with Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6, 2K Samsung display as testing begins
Leaks around iQOO’s next flagship lineup, the iQOO 16 series, are starting to gather pace. After the first details about the iQOO 16T surfaced in June, a fresh leak from tipster Digital Chat Station now suggests the phone has entered the testing phase, revealing more about its specifications. While the device is still likely months away from launch, the latest information points to iQOO continuing its focus on high-end performance and gaming hardware.
Expected key specifications
According to the leak (via), the iQOO 16T prototype is currently being tested with Qualcomm’s upcoming SM8950 chipset, widely expected to launch as the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6. The company is also said to be evaluating a variant powered by MediaTek’s upcoming Dimensity 9600 (DX6), suggesting iQOO could eventually offer multiple chipset options.

The prototype is also tipped to feature a built-in cooling fan, a feature rarely seen outside dedicated gaming phones. iQOO gave one in the 15 Ultra, and bringing it down to the T-model suggests the company is serious about delivering top-level gaming performance. The combination of the fan and a flat 2K Samsung display indicates iQOO is prioritising heavy workloads. Since the device is still in development, these specifications could change before the final launch.
The iQOO 16T will succeed the iQOO 15T, which debuted in May 2026 as the first T-branded flagship in the company’s lineup. The 15T featured a 6.82-inch 2K+ 144Hz LTPO AMOLED display, the MediaTek Dimensity 9500 Monster chipset, up to 16GB RAM, up to 1TB storage, a 200MP primary camera, an 8,000mAh battery with 100W charging, and IP68/IP69 certification.
Based on leaks so far, the iQOO 16 lineup could comprise the standard iQOO 16 and iQOO 16T, for now. The vanilla iQOO 16 is reportedly being tested with Qualcomm’s expected Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro chipset and a huge 8,500mAh battery. Earlier reports also suggested iQOO may skip an Ultra model this generation due to rising memory costs, making the regular iQOO 16 the brand’s primary flagship. That could make the 16T the performance-focused alternative with slightly different hardware.
Availability
There is currently no word on when the iQOO 16T will launch. Since the iQOO 15T never made it to India and the company instead introduced the more affordable iQOO 15R, the chances of the 16T arriving here also appear slim. Leaks have suggested that the standard iQOO 16 may skip the Indian market as the brand continues to prioritise mid-range and budget smartphones locally.
For buyers in India, these early leaks are worth watching mainly as an indication of iQOO’s global flagship strategy. Unless the company’s India roadmap changes, those looking for a flagship iQOO phone may ultimately have to consider other models that are officially launched in the country, rather than waiting for the 16T.
