Moto G06 Power launches in India with a 7,000mAh battery, 6.8-inch large display under Rs 10,000

Highlights
  • Moto G06 Power is the first phone in this segment to offer a 7,000mAh battery.
  • The smartphone also offers an adaptive 120Hz refresh rate.
  • It comes pre-loaded with Google Gemini and Circle to Search.

The budget smartphone market under Rs 10,000 has become increasingly competitive, with brands like Lava, Tecno, and Infinix offering feature-packed phones that strike a balance between performance, camera quality, and battery life. In this segment, consumers can now purchase phones that offer long battery life, large displays, and reliable performance, along with a premium design. Motorola is the latest entrant in this segment with its new Moto G06 Power smartphone, priced at Rs 7,499. The smartphone aims to differentiate itself with a massive 7000mAh battery, the first in this category.

Motorola appears to be focusing on the endurance and media consumption segment within the sub-Rs 10,000 category, positioning the Moto G06 Power as a device that outlasts rivals in battery life while maintaining a premium feel with Pantone-curated colours and vegan leather finish. This approach differentiates it from other brands that focus more heavily on cameras or processor performance.

The company claims the Moto G06 Power can last up to three days on a single charge. The phone supports 20W TurboPower fast charging, which reportedly provides up to seven hours of usage in just 15 minutes. Most phones under Rs 10,000 offer 18W charging support, so this is another advantage for the Moto phone. Motorola also highlights battery longevity, stating it retains over 80 percent of its health even after 1,000 charge cycles.

Moto G06 Power features a 6.88-inch HD+ 120Hz display.

The device sports a 6.88-inch HD+ display with an adaptive 120Hz refresh rate, High Brightness Mode up to 600 nits, and Gorilla Glass 3 protection. You’re not only getting a large display, which is great for content consumption, but the adaptive refresh rate also ensures a smooth scrolling experience. Add to that Dolby Atmos stereo speakers, which make for a more immersive content viewing experience with the Moto G06 Power.

In terms of photography, the Moto G06 Power is equipped with a 50MP Quad Pixel rear camera and an 8MP front camera. The rear camera includes AI-powered portrait modes and Night Vision, while the front camera offers group selfie mode and automatic retouching. This camera setup, along with AI features, is a good deal for this segment.

The smartphone runs Android 15 with Motorola’s My UX customisation features, including Moto Gestures, Google Gemini, Circle to Search, Moto Secure, and ThinkShield protection. Motorola offers a near-stock Android UI but with some customisation as well. Performance is driven by the MediaTek Helio G81 Extreme octa-core processor, coupled with 4GB RAM, expandable to 12GB with RAM Boost, and 64GB internal storage, expandable via a microSD card up to 1TB. This is the same chipset that powers its predecessor, the Moto G05. We haven’t reviewed the device, so we can’t comment on its performance, but the chipset is designed to deliver a balanced performance for everyday tasks and some light gaming as well.

Moto G06 Power colour options.

The Moto G06 Power comes in three Pantone curated colours: Tapestry, Laurel Oak, and Tendril. It also offers a soft-touch vegan leather finish and an IP64 rating for dust and water resistance, which is the standard for phones in this price segment.

The Moto G06 Power stands out with its massive 7000mAh battery and larger-than-average 6.88-inch display. Those prioritising long battery life and media consumption may find it more suitable than rivals in this price segment. However, the entry-level processor may limit gaming and high-performance use compared to slightly more expensive alternatives like the Tecno Spark Go 5G and the Lava Blaze Dragon
