Motorola Signature roundup: India launch date, expected specifications, design and more

Motorola is gearing up to enter a new premium chapter in India with the upcoming launch of its Motorola Signature smartphone series. After building a strong presence in the value and mid-range segments through its G and Edge lineups, the company is now setting its sights on the high-end Android space with a design-led, performance-focused portfolio. The Signature series will be a new premium offering from Motorola alongside the Razr series.

India launch date and Flipkart availability

The Motorola Signature series is scheduled to launch in India on January 7th and will be sold exclusively via Flipkart. The platform has already started teasing the lineup, hinting at a focus on style, performance, and premium features. Launch offers, including bank discounts and no-cost EMI options, are expected to be announced closer to the first sale date.

Design, colours, and stylus support

The Motorola Signature is likely to feature a slim metal frame with a premium leather-textured rear panel and Pantone-curated colour options such as Obsidian Black, Porcelain White, and Forest Green. A major highlight will be support for an integrated stylus, positioning the Signature lineup as one of the few premium Android smartphones in India to combine flagship hardware with pen-based productivity. The stylus is expected to unlock features such as quick note-taking, sketching, smart selection tools, and AI-assisted workflows for professionals and creators.

Expected specifications

The Motorola Signature is tipped to be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5, a new powerful chipset from Qualcomm. This chipset also powers the OnePlus 15R, which is one of the top performers in its segment. The handset is said to pack a 5,200mAh battery with 90W wired fast charging, 50W wireless charging, and both wired and wireless reverse charging support. Wireless charging is a premium feature available mostly in flagship phones. However, the battery capacity might seem underwhelming as most new phones offer upwards of 7,000mAh.

Up front could be a 6.8-inch Extreme AMOLED 1.5K display with a high 165Hz refresh rate, 6,200 nits peak brightness, Dolby Vision, HDR10+ certifications and Gorilla Glass Victus 2 protection. These specs are quite impressive, and a 165Hz display would be great for gaming.

For optics, we could get a 50MP Sony LYT-500 front camera, a 50MP Sony LYT-828 main sensor, a 50MP ultra-wide lens with autofocus, and a 50MP Sony LYT-600 periscope telephoto with 3x optical zoom and up to 100x digital zoom. It’s also said to offer 8K Dolby Vision at 30fps and 4K Dolby Vision at up to 60fps.

Software is getting a major upgrade as well. The Motorola Signature will reportedly ship with Android 16 and become the company’s first phone to receive a commitment of seven years of OS updates and security patches. This change puts it among the likes of Samsung and Google.

There’s no word on the pricing yet, but since it’s being pushed as a premium series, we can expect it to sit below the flagship segment. If the company manages to bundle premium design, stylus functionality, clean software, powerful chipset, and reliable cameras at this price point, the Motorola Signature could become one of the most compelling premium Android options this year.

Based on the leaked specs and features, the Motorola Signature series is shaping up to be a launch worth waiting for.
