OnePlus has officially confirmed the launch of its next Turbo smartphone series in China. OnePlus China President Li Jie recently confirmed that the Turbo 6X series will debut before June 18th.

OnePlus Turbo 6X series: what to expect

While OnePlus has yet to reveal any hardware details, a fresh leak has provided an early look at what buyers can expect from the standard OnePlus Turbo 6X.

According to tipster Experience More on Weibo, the smartphone will be powered by MediaTek’s Dimensity 7300 chipset. This would position the device in the affordable mid-range segment, focusing on delivering strong everyday performance at competitive prices. The handset is tipped to feature a 6.72-inch FHD+ LCD display with a 144Hz refresh rate. While most phones in this category offer 120Hz panels, the higher refresh rate could make animations, scrolling, and gaming feel even smoother. However, the use of an LCD screen instead of AMOLED may be a disadvantage for the phone might face among rivals.

The Turbo 6X is rumored to pack a 7,000mAh battery with support for 45W fast charging. If accurate, it would comfortably last for more than a day, making it particularly attractive for gamers, heavy users, and those who prefer charging less frequently. For photography, the device is expected to feature a 50MP OV50D primary camera alongside a 2MP depth sensor and an 8MP front-facing camera. This camera setup is quite modest, catering more to casual photography users.

Based on the leaked specifications, the OnePlus Turbo 6X appears to prioritise battery life and smooth performance over advanced camera hardware. It would appeal to users looking for a dependable mid-range smartphone for gaming or regular tasks.

The OnePlus Turbo 6X Pro could launch with a larger 6.78-inch 1.5K AMOLED display and also run on the more powerful Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 chipset. It’s also tipped to pack a bigger 8,000mAh battery than the Turbo 6X. For cameras, the Pro model also gets a dual sensor setup but with a 50MP + 8MP combination. On the front too, it features a more powerful 16MP selfie camera.

The Turbo 6X lineup appears to be an affordable alternative to the existing Turbo 6 in China, which offers a bigger 9,000mAh battery, faster Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 chipset, and more.

The Pro model would be the wiser choice for those who want a faster chipset, a bigger battery, and better cameras. It will be priced higher than the Turbo 6X Pro, though. So there’s the standard Turbo 6X for the mid-range choice, and the Pro model for those who can stretch their budget. But we would still suggest waiting for reviews before making a buying decision.
