OPPO Find X10 leak reveals 100MP square front camera
Front camera upgrades in smartphones have largely focused on higher resolution sensors, autofocus systems, and AI processing over the past few years. But a new leak suggests OPPO may be preparing a more unusual change for its next flagship lineup.

The leak claims the setup uses a customised Samsung-built 100MP sensor measuring around 1/2.5 inches. The technology is reportedly being tested for a future device powered by MediaTek’s upcoming 2nm Dimensity 9600 chipset, which is expected to debut inside the Find X10 family.
Square camera vs circular front camera
Traditional front cameras are usually designed around vertical framing, since most selfie photos and social media content are captured in portrait orientation. A square 1:1 sensor changes that approach by capturing a wider frame that can be cropped more flexibly for both vertical and horizontal content.
That could help during video calls, group selfies, live streaming, and creator-focused content where users frequently switch between orientations. Instead of rotating the phone or aggressively cropping the image, the sensor can retain more of the original frame.
The concept is not entirely new. Apple introduced a similar approach with its Center Stage-style front camera system on the iPhone 17 series, though Apple’s implementation reportedly uses a lower-resolution 24MP sensor. OPPO appears to be exploring a far higher-resolution version aimed at maximising flexibility and digital crop options.
The leak also suggests the Find X10 lineup may promote “100MP front and rear multi-focal lengths,” hinting at a broader camera-centric strategy across both selfie and rear camera systems.
For buyers, the real question is whether a 100MP square selfie sensor delivers visible everyday improvements or simply becomes another specification race. Higher megapixel counts do not automatically guarantee better selfies, especially if software optimisation, skin tones, HDR handling, and low-light processing are inconsistent. Still, for users who frequently shoot selfies, create vertical video content, or rely on video calls daily, a more flexible front camera system could offer practical advantages beyond marketing numbers alone. Users who employ the front camera a lot may wait to see what OPPO brings to the Find X10 series.
