OPPO launched the Reno 16 in July this year as its latest premium mid-range offering. The smartphone comes with a stylish design, versatile cameras, a large battery, and more. The Reno 16 is now more expensive by up to Rs 12,000 since its launch in India. This news isn’t surprising, though, as it was expected given that almost every new and old phone is going through the same shift. The Reno 16 also has an 8GB + 128GB variant, which was launched recently.
OPPO Reno 16 India price hike
The Reno 16 (review) now starts at Rs 72,999 after a price hike of Rs 7,000 on its 8GB + 256GB variant, which earlier cost Rs 66,999. The 12GB + 256GB variant, which was earlier priced at Rs 72,999, is now available at Rs 79,999. The new price hike pushes the Reno 16 to another category altogether, at least for these variants.

The base variant of the OPPO Reno 16, which comes with 8GB RAM and 128GB storage, is priced at Rs 65,999. This keeps the Reno 16 in the original price segment of its launch price, which started at Rs 61,999. It’s also more expensive than its direct rival, the Vivo V80, which costs Rs 62,999 for the same memory configuration.
At its revised price, the Reno 16 faces stiffer competition as it creeps closer to the flagship segment. While true flagships remain more expensive, bank offers and discounts can bring them within reach. Furthermore, for users prioritising pure performance and battery life, more affordable alternatives like the iQOO 15R and OnePlus 15R present stronger value. That said, the Reno 16 still holds its ground with its sleek, premium design, vibrant display, and impressive cameras, making it worth considering if design and imaging are your top priorities. It would also be wise to buy the Reno 16 now if you really want it, as the phone may get costlier in the foreseeable future.
