The vanilla POCO X8 has finally made its debut months after the POCO X8 Pro and Pro Max, which debuted earlier this year in March. The POCO X8 is set to launch in India tomorrow, alongside the X8 Power. Both phones have been launched globally and are expected to carry the same hardware here in India too. As the name suggests, POCO X8 is the standard model in the lineup, offering a large display and battery.
POCO X8 specifications
The POCO X8 features a 6.83-inch AMOLED 1.5K display (1280 x 2772 pixels) with a 120Hz refresh rate and 3,500 nits peak brightness. The smartphone is powered by the Snapdragon 6s Gen 4 SoC. For photography, you get a 50MP primary camera with OIS and a 2MP depth sensor at the back. There’s a 16MP front camera for selfies. In comparison, the POCO X7 offers a triple-camera setup with an ultra-wide sensor and a 20MP front camera.
The handset packs an 8,340mAh battery with 67W wired and 22.5W reverse wired charging support. POCO claims the battery can last at least 1,600 charge cycles before the capacity drops below 80 percent. This is much bigger than the POCO X7’s 5110mAh battery. On the software front, the POCO X8 runs Android 16 with HyperOS 3 layered on top. The POCO X8 also comes with IP66, IP68, IP69, and IP69K ratings for dust and water resistance.
POCO X8 has been launched in three configurations: 6GB + 128GB, 8GB + 256GB, and 12GB + 256GB. The smartphone comes in black, white, and orange colours. It’s priced at $269 (Rs 25,600 approx) for the base variant.
Based on its specifications, the POCO X8 could appeal to buyers who want a large battery that can last for days, a bright and vibrant display for multimedia, and a durable build. While the camera setup seems a step back from the X7, the trade-off for extreme durability might just be worth it for the right user. It’s still advisable to compare the POCO X8 with rivals to see how it stacks up. If you prioritise battery life and durability above all else, the X8 is a strong contender, but if camera performance is key, consider alternatives.
