POCO could be preparing a new addition to its X series, with a smartphone tipped to launch as the POCO X8s appearing on multiple certification platforms. A Geekbench listing has also offered an early look at its hardware, pointing to the Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 chipset.

According to XimiTime, the device carries the model number 2609CPC5FG and is headed to select markets outside India. Its reported specifications suggest POCO could be looking to fill the space between its standard and Pro models, although the phone’s final positioning remains unclear.

POCO X8s specifications

The POCO X8s was reportedly spotted on Geekbench in August with the Snapdragon 7 Gen 4, 12GB of RAM and Android 16. Its recent appearance on Singapore’s IMDA platform follows earlier listings on Europe’s EEC and IECEE certification databases. These certifications do not reveal further hardware details, and POCO has yet to confirm the phone’s existence.

The Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 chipset is seen in phones like the OPPO Reno 16, Vivo V80, Motorola Edge 70, Realme 16 Pro+ and Nothing Phone (4a) Pro. They span across different price points and ultimately, the rest of the spec sheet will determine who the POCO X8s actually competes with. Display quality, camera hardware, battery capacity and software support will all influence how it compares with rivals.

The POCO X8 5G is listed in India at a starting price of Rs 26,999 and uses the Snapdragon 6s Gen 4. Its specifications include a 6.83-inch 1.5K AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate, an 8,340mAh battery and 67W charging. The X8s could sit above the standard model, provided it delivers a meaningful performance upgrade without compromising on the other features.

XimiTime suggests the POCO X8s will launch in the Europe, Turkey, Russia and China, with an Indian launch reportedly off the table. The Chinese version is said to carry model number M583CF and could arrive under Redmi branding. POCO hasn’t announced a launch date, price or full specifications. Until those details emerge, Indian buyers considering a phone in this segment should compare available Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 options on camera performance, battery life and overall value. If you’re in a market where the X8s is expected and are considering a mid-range upgrade, it might be prudent to wait for official details given the promising chipset, especially if value is a key factor.
