Xiaomi has officially announced the Redmi 15C 5G will launch in India on December 3rd and confirmed that the phone will go on sale via Amazon, where a microsite is live already. First unveiled in Poland earlier this year, the Redmi 15C 5G is coming to India as an affordable 5G phone. It is a successor to the Redmi 14C, bringing multiple updates for users trying to make their entry into the 5G ecosystem without straining the budget.
The Redmi 15C 5G seems to stick to what Xiaomi traditionally does in this tier in terms of hardware – large screens and long battery life. The phone is said to come with a 6.9-inch HD+ LCD display with a 120Hz refresh rate. This would go down well with users who view lots of video content or prefer larger screens due to their usage of social apps.
The phone, going by the specs listed on the Xiaomi global website, is expected to run on the MediaTek Dimensity 6300 chipset paired with up to 8GB of LPDDR4X RAM and 128GB UFS 2.2 storage. The chipset is common across entry-level 5G phones and seen on phones like OPPO K13x, iQOO Z10 Lite and last year’s Realme 14x. Xiaomi is also expected to ship the device with HyperOS 2 based on Android 15, along with two major OS updates and four years of security patches.
Another highlight is the 6,000mAh battery with 33W charging, continuing the trend of battery endurance in this budget lineup. For users upgrading from the Redmi 14C, the battery life would feel longer and the charging faster, as the predecessor packed a 5,160mAh battery with 18W charging support.
The Redmi 15C India pricing has leaked a couple of times. A tipster suggested the Redmi 15C 5G could start at Rs 12,499 for the 4GB + 128GB option going up to Rs 14,999. These numbers are a bit higher than what was previously estimated but still keep the phone well within the entry-level 5G category.
With this pricing, the Redmi 15C 5G will also find itself pitted against the likes of the Samsung Galaxy M17 and OPPO K13x. Samsung typically focuses on better UI polish and dependable battery optimisation in this category, whereas OPPO focuses a bit more on camera tuning and faster charging speeds. In contrast, the Redmi 15C 5G promises more hardware for the price with a large screen and a huge battery.
The Redmi 15C 5G will be a pragmatic choice for anyone looking to buy a budget 5G phone. With its focus on the key areas most users care about – battery, display and performance – the phone should do its job while keeping prices in check.
