Redmi 15C tipped to launch in India at a higher price than Redmi 14C, key specs leaked

Redmi 14C launched in India earlier this year as an affordable 5G smartphone starting at Rs 9,999. It boasted a 120Hz display, a 50MP camera, and a 5,160mAh battery. Its successor, Redmi 15C, is now tipped to launch in India soon. The smartphone’s alleged pricing for all three variants and key specifications have been leaked by tipster Abhishek Yadav. This gives us an idea of what to expect from Redmi’s upcoming budget phone.

According to the tipster, the Redmi 15C will start at Rs 11,500 for the base model with 4GB RAM + 128GB storage. If we compare it to the Redmi 14C, then there is a price increase of around Rs 1,500. The final price could change as it’s not official yet. The Redmi 15C is said to launch in two more variants of 6GB + 128GB and 8GB + 128GB priced at Rs 12,500 and Rs 14,500, respectively. The Redmi 14C stood out for its affordable pricing, and if the leak is to be believed, then it puts the Redmi 15C in a higher price segment.

Although not officially confirmed yet, the price hike could indicate Redmi’s strategy to move slightly upmarket within the budget segment, perhaps to differentiate from even cheaper competitors. It already offers the Redmi A series priced around Rs 6,000-Rs 7,000, catering to the entry-level segment.

As for its key specifications, the Redmi 15C will reportedly be powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 6300 SoC. This chipset is a popular choice in the budget segment, even among phones priced under Rs 10,000. It offers a decent performance, but not the best. More details leaked about the Redmi 15C include an HD+ notch display and a 6,000mAh battery.

The Redmi 14C also has an HD+ notch display, so there’s no upgrade here unless the peak brightness is higher or some other features are added. The battery capacity has increased from 5,160mAh to 6,000mAh, which should result in a longer battery life. The Redmi 14C can easily last a day with moderate usage, so the 15C with a bigger battery could probably go over a day.

With the Redmi 14C, we liked it for its smooth 120Hz display, decent battery life, quick charging speed, and satisfactory daylight photography. More so because you could get a decent phone at a budget price. Since the Redmi 15C’s leaked pricing suggests an increase, the smartphone would have to offer notable upgrades over its predecessor and rivals in the same segment. Redmi is known for its value-for-money budget phones, so we should still wait and see how it plans to price the 15C in India. At present, even the budget category is intensifying, with companies offering better hardware and AI features as well. The Redmi 14C did prove to be a value-for-money phone for its price, so a similar experience is expected from its successor.
