After details of the rumored Redmi K100 Pro Max surfaced earlier this year, there’s now reportedly a Redmi K100 Pro in the making too, and if the latest information proves accurate, Xiaomi may be preparing another performance-focused smartphone. Redmi’s K100 series is expected to debut later this year in September, so we still have time to learn more about the upcoming phones.
According to a leak by Weibo tipster Digital Chat Station (via), the Redmi K100 Pro will feature a high-resolution display paired with an ultra-high refresh rate panel, likely positioning it among the most advanced screens in the Android flagship segment. While exact specifications remain undisclosed, a QHD+ resolution appears to be the most probable interpretation of the leak.
Under the hood, the device is said to be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset. That’s a step below the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 reportedly reserved for the more premium K100 Pro Max, but it would still place the K100 Pro among the fastest Android devices expected to launch this year.
Photography also appears to be receiving a significant upgrade. The leak points to a 200MP primary camera accompanied by a 50MP periscope telephoto lens, a versatile camera setup. If Xiaomi delivers competitive image processing alongside the hardware, the K100 Pro could challenge devices from Vivo and OPPO.
Perhaps the most eye-catching specification is the battery. The Redmi K100 Pro is tipped to house a battery capacity between 9,000mAh and 9,999mAh. Even at the lower end of that range, the battery would still be among the largest offered in the flagship segment. Combined with rumored 100W wired charging and wireless charging support, the K100 Pro could become one of the most endurance-focused performance flagships on the market.
The leak also mentions symmetrical dual stereo speakers, a large vibration motor, an ultrasonic in-display fingerprint scanner, and an Apple-inspired industrial design. Full water resistance is reportedly included as well, potentially with both IP68 and IP69 certification.
For current Redmi K90 owners, there is little reason to rush into an upgrade decision yet, as the K100 series is expected to launch a few months from now, with September currently rumored as the target window. However, anyone planning to buy a high-performance Android phone later this year may want to keep an eye on the K100 series.
