After debuting the Redmi Note 15 series in January 2026, the company has added one more member to the Note 15 series today with the release of the Redmi Note 15 SE 5G, where SE stands for ‘Special Edition’. Interestingly, it’s priced a tier below the Redmi Note 15 at Rs 19,999, while boasting a larger 5,800mAh battery and a similar set of specifications. Redmi Note 15 SE comes in multiple storage and colour options
The Redmi Note 15 SE will be up for grabs starting April 7th on Xiaomi India’s online store and Flipkart. The company is offering the smartphone in three colourways: Frosted White, Carbon Black, and Crimson Reserve. The latter features a striking red vegan leather finish on the rear panel.

Redmi Note 15 SE specifications appear familiar
Since the Redmi Note 15 SE is an alternate variant of the Redmi Note 15, it retains a similar set of specifications and features. For starters, the phone’s 178g weight and 7.35mm (Carbon Black variant) side profile stand as one of the biggest attraction points, making it one of the lightest and slimmest smartphones in the sub-Rs 20,000 segment alongside the POCO M8.
Then comes the 6.77-inch FHD+ curved AMOLED display with a refresh rate of 120Hz and 3,200 nits of peak brightness that supports 3,840Hz PWM dimming, DCI- P3 wide colour gamut and 12-bit colour depth for producing colours as intended. As noted in our Redmi Note 15 review, its display offers punchy and contrasty tones. One can expect the Note 15 SE to deliver a similar experience.
The performance side of things is taken care of by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 processor, paired with LPDDR4X RAM and UFS 2.2 storage. While the recently released MediaTek Dimensity 7400 Turbo-powered iQOO Z11x may offer a tad better performance numbers, the Note 15 SE should be able to keep up with daily use cases by offering smooth scrolling operations and quick multitasking, as was the case with Redmi Note 15.
The cameras seem to have undergone the biggest change from the Redmi Note 15, as the Note 15 SE carries a 50MP 1/2.88-inch Light Fusion 400 primary camera, a step down from the 108MP 1/1.67-inch sensor found on the Redmi Note 15. It remains to be seen how the change in sensors affects images. Apart from that, the Note 15 featured an 8MP ultrawide, which has been skipped on the Note 15 SE and replaced with a 2MP depth sensor. The 20MP selfie shooter makes its presence here, too.
With a 5,800mAh battery on tow, it should offer better battery backup in day-to-day use compared to the Redmi Note 15’s 5,520mAh cell. For juicing up the device, it gets 45W charging support. On the software front, the Redmi Note 15 SE runs Android 15-based HyperOS 2 and is assured of receiving four OS upgrades and six years of security updates, giving it a clear edge over iQOO Z11x’s two OS upgrade support. Other notable additions include IP65/IP66 certification and Dolby Atmos-supported dual speakers.
For Rs 19,999, the Redmi Note 15 SE could appeal to buyers who want a dependable, well-rounded phone in a sleek and light build. The 5,800mAh battery should offer a day’s worth or more battery endurance, while performance through the Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 may not be the best, it should suffice for most use cases, unless you’re into heavy gaming.
