Samsung Galaxy A27 leak points to selfie camera upgrade

While the Geekbench listing seemed to suggest an unexpected downgrade, one of the more interesting changes this time may be around the selfie camera. A report from GalaxyClub says the Galaxy A27 could use a new 12MP front sensor, replacing the 13MP unit on the Samsung Galaxy A26. While that sounds like a downgrade at first, the newer sensor is said to be larger, which usually helps in capturing more light. In everyday use, that could mean better selfies indoors, clearer video calls, and less noise in low light.

There’s also talk of improved video recording on the front camera. The Galaxy A27 may support 4K video at 30fps, compared to 1080p on the A26. That’s a straightforward upgrade and one that users are likely to notice. On the rear, things remain familiar. The phone is expected to keep the same 50MP main camera, 8MP ultrawide, and 2MP macro setup as the A26.

Performance is where the conversation gets a bit mixed. A Geekbench listing showed the Galaxy A27 running on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 chip with 6GB of RAM in one version. Compared to the A26, which came with an Exynos 1380 and 8GB RAM at Rs 24,999, this looks like a more modest setup on paper. That said, this could be intentional to keep costs in check. As memory components get more expensive, Samsung may be trying not to pass the burden on to consumers and stick to the price point that has worked for it in the past.

Based on what’s leaked so far, Galaxy A27’s front camera changes could make a real difference for everyday use. For buyers prioritising selfies and Samsung’s ecosystem, the A27 could appeal if priced near Rs 25,000. Those seeking stronger performance may prefer competitors. Specifications could still change before launch, so final details will determine the buying decision.
