After the release of the Spark Go 3 (review) in January, Tecno has expanded the Spark lineup by releasing the Spark 50 5G today in India. Aimed at users seeking a large battery capacity and strong build quality, the smartphone will retail for Rs 16,999 for the base variant. It is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 6400 processor, which should offer enough raw power for daily operations, but may not be the most ideal chip for high-end gaming.

The Tecno Spark 50’s base variant, which carries 4GB RAM with 128GB storage, is priced at Rs 16,999, while the 6GB RAM and 128GB variant will set you back Rs 18,999. The device’s first sale begins on April 3rd across online channels, such as Flipkart, and offline retail stores.
The Spark 50’s colourways include Champagne Gold, Fantasy Purple, Ink Black, and Mint Green. With four colour options, it gives buyers a good variety to choose from.
Featuring a 120Hz refresh rate panel, the Tecno Spark 50 5G’s (720 x 1576 pixels) HD+ LCD measures 6.78-inches and gets 240Hz touch sampling rate and 560 nits brightness. Since the display is restricted to 720p, one should expect a nominal level of detail when watching YouTube videos or movies/shows on OTT platforms. As for the build, the phone features a military-grade MIL STD-810H protection and an IP64 Pro rating.
As stated in the intro, the Tecno Spark 50 is powered by the Dimensity 6400 processor, a 6nm-based silicon with up to 2.5GHz clock speeds and an Arm Mali-G57 MC2 GPU. In real-world use, we recently found the Realme C83 (review) with Dimensity 6300 (a lighter version of Dimensity 6400) to offer a snappy experience when opening and running multiple applications; however, the smartphone showed signs of struggle when playing BGMI at high frame rates.
Just like the Realme C83, the Spark 50 boots on Android 16 out of the box, but with Tecno’s HiOS 16 skin layered on top. The speciality of the software this time around is that it’s packed with a slew of convenient features, such as Active Noise Cancellation, AI WhatsApp Assistant, Ella Alarm Announcement, AI Writing Assistant, AI Eraser 2.0, AI Image Extender and Ella-powered tools. It’s great to see a phone in this segment prioritising AI features that could be beneficial in daily use.
On the rear, the vertical camera layout houses a 50MP primary camera with an f/1.85 aperture and an LED flashlight, while at the front, the selfie cutout is equipped with an 8MP camera. Finally, the star of the show is a massive 6,500mAh battery, which is paired with 45W fast charging.
Some other key additions of the Tecno Spark 50 worth mentioning include a side-mounted fingerprint sensor, a 3.5mm headphone jack, an expandable memory option of up to 2TB through the microSD card slot, 210g weight, and 8.18mm side thickness.
Coming at Rs 16,999, the Tecno Spark 50 could stand as a suitable option for those prioritising high battery endurance without the added bulk or thickness, since the device measures 8.1mm in thickness and weighs 210g. However, if you’re not ready to compromise on visual details with a 720p panel, the Moto G57 Power acts as a strong alternative as it sports a 6.72-inch full HD+ (2400p × 1080) IPS LCD display at Rs 14,999.
On the other hand, with multiple AI features in tow, powered by Tecno’s Ella AI, the Spark 50 could come in handy in offering better productivity and creativity use cases over the Moto G57 Power.
