Vivo S2 series tipped to launch in India, bringing back the S lineup after seven years

Highlights

Vivo may finally be bringing back the S-series to India after a long gap. The lineup was quietly discontinued around 2020, but a new leak now suggests the company is preparing to launch the Vivo S2 series in the country soon.

According to tipster Abhishek Yadav, the upcoming phones will target the mid-range segment, although specifications and chipset details are still unknown. The original Vivo S1 launched in India back in 2019 at Rs 17,990. At the time, it was slightly ahead of the curve for its price. AMOLED displays and in-display fingerprint scanners were still not common in this segment, and Vivo packaged those features alongside a 32MP selfie camera and MediaTek’s Helio P65 chipset. The company later launched the S1 Pro and S1 Prime before gradually retiring the lineup.
