Vivo to unveil OriginOS 7 on September 16th, here’s what to expect from the Android 17-based skin

While Xiaomi may have already pulled the curtain back on HyperOS 4 a few weeks ago, Vivo is all set to announce its upcoming Android 17-based skin in the third week of September, just a day earlier than ColorOS 17. Said to come pre-installed on the Vivo X500 series, OriginOS 7 appears to emphasise revamped visuals, smooth interactivity, and animations, as seen in the teasers so far.

OriginOS 7 to launch on September 16th in China

Vivo is hosting its yearly vivo Dev Conference (VDC) on September 16th, during which it’ll announce OriginOS 7 and BlueOS 4, a dedicated platform for smart wearables, smart home products, and IoT devices. Ahead of the official unveil, the company has detailed several key changes and features coming to OriginOS 7, including a liquid, glass-like interface, Stage Manager-like multitasking capabilities, and faster app loading, responsiveness, and graphics rendering.

OriginOS 7 key features and improvements

Liquid Glass aesthetics: OriginOS 7 is said to go all out on Liquid Glass-like design, featuring three transparent texture types to choose from: Real, Natural, and Soft. Depending on the texture type, the entire interface will adapt and display elements with glass and light effects. These include lockscreen clock and widgets, bottom navigation bars, buttons, and more.
