Xiaomi 17T launched in India with 5x periscope telephoto camera and 6,500mAh battery: price, specifications

Highlights
  • Xiaomi 17T price in India starts at Rs 59,999.
  • The handset boasts the biggest battery in the Xiaomi 17 series yet.
  • Other key specs include a Leica camera system, MediaTek Dimensity 8500 Ultra SoC, 6.59-inch 1.5K AMOLED display, and more.

The Xiaomi 17T has been launched in India as the third member in the flagship lineup: Xiaomi 17 and Xiaomi 17 Ultra (review) were introduced earlier this year. The latest model is the most affordable in the lineup and tags along the same camera-focused performance as its elder sibling. It’s also the first ‘T’ model from the flagship lineup to launch in India, suggesting the brand’s interest to capture more price segments in the market.

In fact, the Xiaomi 17T boasts a Leica 5x periscope telephoto camera, which offers superior optical zooming capabilities as the ultra-flagship Xiaomi 17 Ultra, priced over Rs 1,00,000. That said, corners have been cut to make the Xiaomi 17T more affordable. But it could still offer value for money for sub-flagship buyers.

Xiaomi 17T specifications

The Xiaomi 17T carries the same design language as its elder siblings, but sits between the Xiaomi 17 and Xiaomi 17 Ultra in terms of dimensions and weight. The handset measures 157mm x 75.2mm x 8.17mm and tips the scale at 200 grams. The smartphone sports a 6.59-inch 1.5K AMOLED display that bears a resolution of 2756 × 1268 pixels, a 120Hz refresh rate, and 12-bit colour depth.

Furthermore, the Xiaomi 17T’s display supports full DCI-P3 colour gamut coverage and comes with HDR10+ and Dolby Vision certification. The panel also offers 3840Hz high-frequency PWM dimming and DC dimming for eye comfort, along with Corning Gorilla Glass 7i protection. Peak brightness goes up to 3,500 nits, and the display carries TÜV Rheinland certifications for reduced eye strain.

Under the hood, the smartphone is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 8500 Ultra chipset built on a 4nm process. It features an all-big-core CPU architecture, paired with the Mali-G720 MC8 GPU and NPU 880 for AI-based tasks. The SoC is coupled with LPDDR5X RAM (up to 9600Mbps) and UFS 4.1 storage.

For photography, the Xiaomi 17T carries a Leica-tuned triple rear camera setup, comprising a 50MP Light Fusion 800 primary sensor with OIS, a 50MP periscope telephoto lens offering 5x optical zoom with OIS, and a 12MP ultra-wide-angle sensor with a 120-degree field of view. The selfie camera is a 32MP sensor selfie camera with 4K HDR video recording support. The rear camera system supports up to 120x digital zoom and 4K HDR10+ recording at 60fps. In the same segment, the Xiaomi 17T is expected to compete with the Vivo X200T, which also offers a similar camera setup.

The smartphone packs a 6,500mAh silicon-carbon battery with 67W HyperCharge fast charging support. It also supports USB-C Power Delivery, PPS charging up to 50W, and 22.5W wired reverse charging. In comparison to its predecessor, this is an upgrade over the Xiaomi 15T’s 5,500mAh battery.

Connectivity options include 5G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, NFC, an IR blaster, and stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos. The handset also features an in-display fingerprint sensor and AI face unlock. Binding everything together is Android 16 with HyperOS 3 on top, along with Xiaomi HyperAI features and Google Gemini integration.
