For someone who needs a small yet powerful laptop which is easy to carry around.

Ordered it on 5th of may but even if the product page lists 3-5 business day, I recieved it on 18th. Yeah, long delay and a bad shopping experience with flipkart for the first time. The package arrived good condition and the bag which I recieved was a cheap messenger bag. I would have prefered a backpack which is being offered now. Also got a free lenovo headset not part of my order which may be flipkart's way of saying sorry.\n \n I own a customized high end desktop, so all I was looking for was a laptop which was light enough to carry, not high end but wouldnt be too shabby on performance. My main requirement was portability, light browsing, 1080p playback capable, I'm a person who favors performance over looks anyday but this time looks were in my list, word processing and on top of all lightweight and easy to carry.\n\nFor people who would stay away from blue, none of the images on the web show the true colour of this laptop. Its actually peacock blue or turquoise or the shade of the "Emerald blue" variant of the 2012 Maruti Ritz.\n\nSince portablity was my no.1 concern, I first looked for 11.6" notebooks powered by AMD's Fusion APUs, mainly the HP pavilion dm1 series and the Sony Vaio YB series. Then I realised that a few thousands more can get me a 2nd Generation i3 machine which is considerably powerful when compared to these APUs. Intel's integrated HD graphics 3000 can even stand up along with or against most entry level GPUs from AMD and nvidia.\n\nThe Pavilion dm1's i3 variant did not have 2 memory expansion slots, so I left it and looked for 12-12.5" notebooks. I'm talking about the HP Probook which is hot in every aspect, duracase aluminium, a fingeprint reader and enhanced security features, 2nd gen i3, expandable but after thorough research, I came to realise that the probook's screen was a matte screen with a very poor contrast and color, only intended for business use and not too good for movies. And flipkart also increased its price from 27k to 31.8k which was close to the price range notebooks with the i5 procys. \n\nLenovo's thinkpad x220(IPS display) was beyond my budget and Samsung had a 12.5incher, 2nd gen i5 with no RAM expansion again. So I finally decided to move the next, i e 13.3inches.\n\nI felt this was the perfect size between performance and portability. 11.6 & 12.5 sometimes feel too small especially when viewing media or reading text. 13.3" is perfect. Though nobody uses a DVD drive these days, its always easier to use a disc media for reinstallation of OSes, viewing family videos like weddings and the sorts as they tend to come on DVD as India hasn't fully adapted to blue-ray yet. So DVD drive was a bonus for me than a necessity. \n\nThe specs on this notebook are quite powerful and more than enough for a smooth performance anywhere for years. Its only at the graphics department which shows that it is clearly NOT DESIGNED WITH GAMERS IN MIND". It handles HD 1080p videos, media decoding and encoding like butter and as I'm not a gamer, this is fine by me. \n \n The 13.3" WXGA LED backlit screen (by AU Optronics) is sharp, has good viewing angles, punchy colours and contrast for a laptop at this size and price bracket. The keyboard is full size, has great tactile feedback and is great to type on. The touchpad has a dotted texture but is accurate but the single button for the left and right buttons are a bit hard to press.\n\nThe notebook remained cool in the hot and humid climate of Kerala. The processor maintained a temperature of 50 and below, though I noticed that the underside gets warm during processor intensive usage. I found my legs slightly wet with perspiration after using it on my lap. But this the case with most laptops with a config like this.\n \n I would have got a better offer outside but I ordered from flipkart solely because of my trust in flipkart which has been wounded a bit as of now.\n\nTo conclude, I would recommend this laptop to anyone who requires a multimedia capable laptop which is not too big, lightweight and easy to carry. For the college students and the frequent traveler, this makes a light and entertaining machine. \n \n Girls who rarely know anything about performance can order this one blindly as this is perfect for them. Attractive, media capable and easy to carry around. There is even a pink colour variant for the girls who are crazy for pink.\n \n When it comes to college guys, this is not for the gamers but for someone who needs an attractive laptop which is quite capable everywhere else and easy to carry around. This can even be a backup pc for someone who already has a high end rig at home and doesnt need anything too complicated and heavy to carry around.
