Verdict

After Moto G4 and Z play models comes the Moto M. The Moto M is a very nice choice for heavy multitaskers and high end gamers. The performance of the handset is great, thanks to the superior RAM. The user can get entertained for long period of time since the battery backup is good. One can also record full HD videos and share it with their close ones or social networking sites. Even the display quality is superb due to high pixel density and the fingerprint sensor is quick to respond. Overall, this smartphone is lucrative deal to watch out for.

Moto M review: M for missed opportunity?

The Moto M marks a new design journey for the brand, but fails to impress in other aspects

Feb 22 2017 By Nitansh Rastogi
PROS
  • Gorgeous design
  • Powerful internals
  • Loud speaker
  • Decent battery life
CONS
  • Lacks Moto's signature features
  • Average cameras
  • Not ideal for hardcore gaming
Verdict

If you’ve been following our review, then you won’t be surprised when we say that the Moto M generates mixed feelings. While it seems to have taken care of some of the important aspects such as design and performance, it has also missed out on features that make a Moto smartphone distinct, be it the camera or software – and that’s a big red flag against it.Don’t get us wrong. The Moto M is a good device, but the competition is much better, and of course, our expectations are usually higher from a device from the iconic brand’s stable. For the specs it offers, the pricing seems to be on the higher side – Rs 15,999 for the 3GB RAM model, and Rs 17,999 for the 4 gig version. Devices such as the Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 (review) are priced significantly lower, yet seem to be better buys. Forget competition from other brands, the Moto M faces rivalry from its own family itself – the Lenovo P2 (review) is an excellent battery monster, while the Lenovo Z2 Plus (review) is the most affordable phone with the flagship-level SD820 chipset. In fact, in our opinion, the Moto G4 Plus, priced at Rs 14,999 comes across as more bang for your buck. The 4GB flavour of the Honor 6X (review) is also a great choice, especially due to its dual cameras.Related read: Moto M vs Moto G4 PlusIf you’re keen on getting the Moto M however, our suggestion to you would be to wait a little longer for the Moto G5 Plus, which as per the rumours, will feature a revamped design language and impressive spec sheet for a sticker price of around Rs 15,000.Related read: What to expect from the Moto G5 Plus

Met some expectations
29 Dec 2016 By syed mohd mehdi On flipkart.com

Well I was amazed to read the before the phone was delivered to me but after using it there are a few flaws which I found in Moto M.n1-second sim or memory card.n I mean its better to launch a phone with only one sim option, customer will not in a confusion.n2-it lags a lot when apps like share it or MX player are started.. I just can't understand why is this so with 3 GB of RAM.n3-Earphones sucks. Horrible sound.n4-Battery backup- it goes to its lowest after 3-4 hours of internet usage.n5-The 16 MP camera- Moto g(2nd gen) 8 mp camera vis better than 16 mp Moto M's.The same is with the front facing camera..lots of blur blur blur blurred picture.nnMy younger brother uses Redmi 3s prime and it's a lot better phone if compared to Moto m and the 7000 rs difference.nnThis is what I felt using it for 10 days.nHope it might be helpful.nThanks
