After much of drama i received this laptop yesterday. The packing from flipkart was perfect and was well cushioned to survive any transit damages ( if at all any ).nThe laptop has a glossy finish on the top ( blue ) and the rest of it is some kind of strong plastic which certainly looks durable.nnNow for some quick pros and cons :nnPROs :n1.The machine is meant for gaming . The dedicated GPU and iGPU work like a dream.Tried out a couple of games like crysis 2 and farcry 2 , they worked pretty smooth on high settings on every every possible aspect.nPlease make sure to update your graphic drivers to the latest ones to unleash the true potential .The one which comes on stock is obsolete.nnThese two GPU chips on CrossfireX is somewhere between the Nvidia 640m and Nvidia 650m . Though it keeps getting better with driver updates .nn2.Great screen :nnI love the Anti-glare matte screen. This is just a personal preference. If you are used to a gloss screen ,this might take some time to get used to.nn3.The Memory and the hdd:nn6 gigs of RAM is more than sufficient and its clocked at 1600 mhz .This makes all the "VMware "(Virtualization) tasks a breeze.nMost laptops on the 35k range have a 500 gb hard disk and 4 gigs of ram at 1333mhz ( not much , but still this is a little better )nn4.Its feels light , slim when compared to all the other AMD APU powered laptops ( including the HP and the Acer)nn5.It gave me a battery backup of about 5 hours with the wifi adapter on(light browsing) and headphones plugged in (100% precharged ).Samsung limits its battery to a maximum of 80% charge to extend the life of the battery(though this can be disabled.)nnRegarding heating issues/myths :nnThis laptop runs really cool on normal usage but it does get heated up on prolonged gaming sessions.nANY Laptop will get hot when its put to gaming use and especially when it has a dedicated GPU(graphics card) .ANY.Its not just AMD with ATI or Intel with Nvidia or whatever.nIf you want this one for gaming, then buy a nice little cooling pad which does the job well.nnCons:nn1.nI find my Core 2 Duo ( oc'd 3.4 ghz ) snappier than this quad core to be honest.nBut at the same time it performs much better than a SIMILARLY CLOCKED i3(3rd gens) or i5 ( 2rd gens ) easily.I would have preferred a higher clock than the 1.9ghz this A8 runs on.nnBut this is no big deal as there is hardly any noticeable differences in day to day tasks like browsing, music, office stuff etc.,nThis is tremendously compensated by the awesome GPUs.nnn2.nOne single partition for the entire disk.No biggie ,but stillnnnVerdict :nnThis is a great laptop for the price . Worth every buck and delivers much more than any laptop in the price range(35k-40k).You can buy this with your eyes closed !
I use lot of Graphics Processing and Crypto Algorithms.... AMD Quad Core rocks and performs better than my 1.6 GHZ i7 with 8 cores bcos AMD can clock at 3.1 GHZ with 4 cores !!nnI was surprised by this test but AMD support for floating point operations if phenomenal. nnOnly one downside .... it warms up a bit but that is what u expect with AMD and its POWER
