Verdict

The Acer Aspire V5-123 (NX.MFREK.007) is a small laptop which can be easily carried around and sports entry level features. It ships with Windows 8.1 OS, nice battery and is capable of handling decent games. The poor hard disk will cause problems though.

Display and Design

The Acer Aspire V5-123 (NX.MFREK.007) sports a 11.6-inch Active Matrix TFT Colour LCD LED backlit display which looks pretty sharp with a resolution of 1,366 x 768 pixels. It is wrapped in a simply designed silver coloured outfit which has a thickness of 23.5mm and a weight of just 1.2kg so that you can tote around with it easily.

Processor and OS

On the inside, the notebook features a 1GHz AMD dual-core E1-2100 processor sitting on AMD A68M chipset. For handling multiple tasks, there is a 2GB DDR3 RAM which can be further expanded up to 4GB if needed. With the AMD Radeon HD 8210 graphics unit, you can run moderately demanding games smoothly. The Acer Aspire V5-123 (NX.MFREK.007) ships with 64 bit Windows 8.1 OS to provide intuitive user experience.

Camera, Storage and Multimedia

The machine is equipped with an Acer Crystal Eye webcam which has the efficiency to shoot HD videos. It comes with a SATA hard disk of 320GB which will cause problems after a certain period of time. It has stereo speakers to render HD Audio solution.

Battery and Connectivity

Fuelled by a 4 cell Li-ion battery, the Acer Aspire V5-123 (NX.MFREK.007) is capable of delivering uninterrupted service for up to 4 hours. Moving to the connectivity and networking features, we have Gigabit Ethernet, HDMI out, VGA port, WLAN, digital media reader, two USB 2.0 slots, one USB 3.0 port and Bluetooth v4.0.
