I got this for 17,500 from ws retail, excellent price !!! My whole review is based on the price of my purchase.nn1. Processor:nThis is a 1.5ghz 3rd gen processor. 3rd gen matters a lot because with the change in every generation comes newer cpu instructions, so it may sound 1.5ghz but its ~25% faster than the 2nd gen version with same speed !!! This cpu is "U" variant and has lower power consumption so it is slightly slower than the regular "M" versions !!! Gets the work done for basic browsing and watching HD movies.nn2. Ram:n2GB is good enough for moderate browsing !!! Its funny that my mobile has the same amount of ram :pnn3. Video adapter:nHere they have mentioned that its "Intel HD 4000" but its only "HD Graphics". Check the processor specs on Intel site.nn4. Built Quality:nIt is total Plastic with good finishing, always keep in mind that plastic is lighter than other materials. Overall built quality is very good at this price. This same chassis is used in the i3 model which costs ~30k. It has ONLY 2 indication lights power and charging, NO capslock, numpad, dvd rom light !!!nn5. Windows 8 32bit & drivers:nI have successfully installed windows 8 32bit in ~20-30mins without any issues. Asus has no support for 32bit windows, forget XP! !! You basically need no drivers for video, wifi, touchpad, etc. But you can always find them on lenovo or acer website, Search for the model with celeron cpu. In my case i downloaded from acer website by selecting Acer Aspire V5-131as they both have same Intel HM70 chipset and processor, Thanks to ACER :)nn6. Overall weight & Charging adapter:nLaptop weighs pretty light considering it has built in DVD Rom(Matshita). The charger is in one piece !!! Just put the square shaped block in the socket and you are good to go. Ultra portable !! This is a big +nn7. Battery:nPerformance is average ~2-3 hrs, what else can we expect from 4cell battery ?nn8. Windows revelations:nI have successfully installed Windows XP and Windows 7(both 32bit) with no issues so far. Windows XP needs only audio, video(not important) and wireless drivers afaik. You can get XP drivers by searching for its device manufacturer's site for eg: Audio is Realtek, Video is Intel and WLAN is Atheros. I use XP for an old Dos program so it is obvious if you are installing XP then you will not be utilizing this product to its fullest. I have no choice because i have to use a dos program which does not go fullscreen in Win8 :( nnCons:nonly 2 usb ports.ntouch pad is not great.nViewing angles are pathetic.nIn-built battery.nno caps lock and numpad indication lights.nSpeakers are worst part of this laptop.nnI also happen to own Asus X551CA-SX075D Laptop (3rd Gen CDC/ 2GB/ 500GB/ DOS) got it from snapdeal. This whole review is applicable to it except for it has a poor chassis texture in white and does not have a dvd rom.
Have been using this notebook since a month now. I'm the DIY types so can live with many shortcomings in products by figuring our workarounds and hacks. here are my initial thoughts on this product. Cons first if it can save a few heartbreaks,nnCons:nn1. The hardware supports only Windows 8 & 8.1 64bit. If you are hard pressed for time or not a tech savvy DIY nerdy types, you may want to stay away from this Notebook.nn2. The plastic around and over the screen is flimsy and fragile, feels like it may cave in with a little pressure applied - not a good thing.nn3. The track pad is flimsy and crappy, its a bit daunting to use the trackpad. you cannot compare this with the usual trackpads that you get in Acer, Lenovo, HP Laptops. You may struggle with the "right click" & "select click" on the track pad. I discarded the track pad and have been using a Logitech wireless keyboard and mouse combo to circumvent this bad design.nn4. Not enough LED indicators for CAPs, NUM LOCK etc so you have to get intuitive over a period of time to be able to overlook and use this notebook.nn5. The DVD drive makes awful lot of noise that may be irritating. PLEASE DROP THE IDEA OF USING THIS NOTEBOOK AS HTPC. Its noisy and under-powered.nn6. Unlike the notebook/netbook/laptops of yesteryears there is no provision to selectively open the laptop to just upgrade the RAM or HDD or Battery, you will have to open the entire back cover if you want to upgrade, its a big trun-off for DIYers and tweakers!nn7. Last but not Least, Asus India support is crappy, if you call them for drivers they will parrot a script that will say you will need to get Win 8 or 8.1 64bit to get this thing running, least helpful, and at the end they make you feel like you made a dumb choice by buying this notebook (Spare your time and patience and look at Acer or other websites instead with similar hardware specs for drivers which should work) nnnPros:nn1. Affordable Notebook/Laptop for anyone on shoe string budgetn2. Green & eco friendly.Low power consumption hardwaren3. Nifty charger that is compact in dimension.n4. Large screen real estate at this price point. (Good for visuals & movies)n5. Brushed aluminium finish around the keyboard gives premium look & feel.nnFlipkart, As usual their service is 10/10. Got the Laptop within 48hrs of placing the order with superb packaging, i specially liked the use of air filled packaging material that keeps the fragile product safe & secure. Keep up the good job Flipkart. As a Flipkart fan and well wisher, the only feedback is to check on the wild swing in the pricing of product.
