Verdict
While the Dell Inspiron 14z 5423 Ultrabook looks extremely elegant with its slim and ultra light body, it does not disappoint with its internal hardware as well. It has the fuel to run business tasks proficiently but lacks any graphics card that can handle gaming well. It has two brilliant speakers along with an HD webcam and slim optical drive.
Portability with performance
Display and Design
 
The Dell Inspiron 14z 5423 Ultrabook sports a 15.6-inch HD WLED backlit display with a resolution of 1,366 x 768 pixels which reproduces colors and contrasts in a better way than the usual LED ones.
 
It is extremely slim (21mm thick) and light (1.8kg) and gives an elegant feeling with its detailed brushed aluminium finish. With this sturdy design, you have a sleek gadget that is capable of standing out in a crowd. A full size chiclet keyboard and a gesture supported touchpad make up the input package.
 
Processor and OS
 
The Ultrabook is powered by 3rd generation Intel Core i3 processor clocked at 1.8GHz and paired with Mobile HM77 Express chipset. The CPU works in combination with a 4GB DDR3 RAM which is expandable up to 8GB via a single DIMM slot. The graphics bit is managed by Intel HD 4000 GPU. It runs 64 bit Windows 8 OS.
 
Camera, Storage and Multimedia
 
A native HD webcam of 1MP paired with digital array microphone gives you convenient and noise free video calling experience. The Dell Inspiron 14z 5423 Ultrabook is packed with an inbuilt storage capacity of 500GB via the SATA hard disk. Apart from that, the device carries a standard Tray Load DVD+/-RW Drive.
 
The device scores extremely well in terms of entertainment thanks to the dual Skull Candy speakers powered by Waves MaxxAudio sound.
 
Battery and Connectivity
 
The Dell Inspiron 14z 5423 Ultrabook has a 6 cell Li-ion battery and sports connectivity features like 3 USB 2.0 slots, HDMI out, Gigabit Ethernet, WLAN, Bluetooth v4.0, VGA port and 3-in-1 media card reader.
