The Dell Inspiron 15 3542 (3542541TBiSU) laptop features a fast processor which renders smooth functioning in the system and the battery backup is also good. The user can save a large number of files in the ample storage and also maintain a backup of files using the DVD writer when needed. However, either a dedicated GPU or pre-installed Windows OS was clearly expected in this budget.

The Dell Inspiron 15 3542 (3542541TBiSU) laptop flaunts a 15.6-inch HD LED backlit display with true life and has a screen resolution of 1,366 x 768 pixels. For driving the system, there is a 1.7GHz Intel core i5-4210U processor seated upon Intel QM87 express chipset. It is aided by 4GB of DDR3 RAM and inbuilt Intel HD 4400 graphics engine. For better performance, the user can increase the RAM upto 8GB. The laptop boots on Ubuntu operating system sailing upon 64-bit architecture.
