Verdict

Although the Dell Vostro 2520 carries some powerful features, it has a bulky outfit. You may also be unaccustomed to the Ubuntu OS, and need to upgrade it to Windows. On the positive side, it has a powerful processor, an impressive webcam and a slim DVD drive which are good for business.

Display and Design

 

The Dell Vostro 2520 arrives with a 15.6-inch HD LED backlit display with a resolution of 1,366 x 768 pixels. The matte finish on the Anti Glare display may look a bit dull but prevents any harmful rays from being reflected into your eyes. With a thickness of 34.5mm, the London slate grey colored package looks cumbersome but is extremely sturdy. It carries a spill resistant keyboard and a normal touchpad as the input options.

 

Processor and Platform

 

At the heart of the laptop, you can find a 3rd generation Intel Core i5 processor sprinting at 2.6GHz and built on HM77 Express chipset. It is assisted by a typical 4GB DDR3 RAM which is upgradeable up to 8GB by the 2 unused memory slots if you demand faster performance. The Intel HD 4000 GPU may not offer rich graphics but handles high resolution media files smoothly. It runs Ubuntu OS out of the box.

 

Snapper, Memory and Multimedia

 

A 1MP front facing snapper at the top of the display gives high resolution video calling experience. The Dell Vostro 2520 accounts for the storage needs of the user with a 500GB SATA hard disk. The Tray load DVD RW Drive fits perfectly in this notebook. The computer houses two 2W stereo speakers which combine to provide impressive performance.

 

Battery and Connectivity

 

Equipped with a 6 cell Li-ion battery, the Dell Vostro 2520 notebook promises to deliver up to 3 hours of service on a single charge. The ports present in the device are VGA port, digital media reader, HDMI out and 3 USB 2.0 ports. Wireless connectivity features include Bluetooth v4.0 and WLAN 802.11 b/g/n.
