This documentary is based on Anna's conversations with filmmaker Marina Goldovskaya, Anna's former university professor and personal friend. Shot over a period of 20 years, this exclusive footage creates an incredible story of a woman who consciously gave her life for her convictions.

In 1990, Goldovskaya had made a movie centered on Anna Politkovskaya's husband Sasha. At the time, he was a famous journalist working for a TV show. Goldovskaya called that documentary A Taste of Freedom (1991). A couple of decades later, she filmed the "Bitter Taste of Freedom" about the other half of this family of journalists, Anna, who was brutally murdered in Moscow.
