Scrooge has a dog named "Debit" in this animated musical movie. In other movie versions, he does not have a dog, because it was not one of the characters in Charles Dickens' original novel.
This animated production is the first movie adaptation to have Scrooge's shrouded body and the opportunists be in the same scene. In other adaptations, as in the book, the shrouded body scene occurs after the Ghost of Christmas Yet to Come points the Opportunists out to Scrooge. It occurred before the Opportunists scene in the live-action television movie, A Christmas Carol (1984), which starred George C. Scott. The only opportunists in both of these movies are Mrs. Dilber and Old Joe.
Tim Curry reprised the role of Ebenezer Scrooge in 2001 in a musical production of "A Christmas Carol" at the Theater at Madison Square Garden.
One of the very few adaptations to portray the Ghost of Christmas Past as a child. Only Mr. Magoo's Christmas Carol and (possibly, as the spirit is so nondescript) the 2008 version do so besides this. The spirit being a child dates to the original novel.
