Budget 60 USD
The budget for Bad Black is estimated at $65, and was produced over 5 years in the slum of Wakaliga, Uganda.
Director Nabwana IGG has never been to a movie theater.
Alan Hofmanis, who had a background in film distribution, wasn't an actor before this movie. He reached out to the director a few years before when he discovered his film Who Killed Captain Alex (2011) on YouTube and was fascinated enough to go to Uganda to track him down. After meeting Nabwanna I.G.G. and connecting, Hofmanis asked him if he could help bring his movies to international attention, as prior to this meeting no one outside of "Wakaliwood" showed much interest. I.G.G. was so impressed he came up with the idea for him to act in Bad Black.

"[Swaaz grabs the guard's rifle and threatens everyone in the bank before pointing it at the bank teller] V.J. Emmie: Open, open! I said open! [Swaaz attempts to break the bank window with the butt of the rifle] V.J. Emmie: [imitating the bank teller's voice] No, no, please no! [Swaaz shoots at the window, but the bullets bounce off] V.J. Emmie: I have a key! [Swaaz reaches down his right leg and pulls out a hammer, using it to smash the window] V.J. Emmie: Ugandan key."
