It’s been more than 10 years since our last appointment at Calvin’s Barbershop. Calvin and his longtime crew, including Eddie, are still there, but the shop has undergone some major changes. Though they co-star here, Ice Cube and Common were the center of a long and vicious feud in their rap careers during the 1990s. It was rumored that Louis Farrakhan was consulted to bring about peace between the two.

The name of the Tyga character "Yummy" is the name of real reputed Chicago gang member Robert "Yummy" Sandifer killed by his own gang at 11 years old.

Took two months to film.

Michael Ealy was offered to reprise his role, in an interview with pelap Ice Cube was asked why Ealy didnt return. Cube responded by saying they sent him the script and he was interested until he read the script and was displeased with new direction they were taking the film and was disgusted by the dialogue and additional characters. He stated that this is not the Barbershop he knows and it tarnishes the image and meaning of the original two films, Common was casted and they scrapped off Ealy's character and did some re-writes.

The principal in the film is actually super tough and dedicated former principal of Chicago's Fenger High School featured in the CNN documentary "Chicagoland".
