This is the first ever interactive Barbie movie. Viewers get to decide where to take the characters.
Despite taking place after the ending of Barbie: It Takes Two, nothing specific from that series is brought up (such as what Otto Phoenix thought of the Barbies' demo and whether Brooklyn Barbie wants to do acting classes with Bertram Livsey). Instead, all the callbacks are to episodes of Barbie Dreamhouse Adventures and some of the other Netflix movies.
