The project first started as a possible sequel to director Christopher Hatton's "Robotropolis" (2011) entitled "Robotropolis: City of the Dead".
A few scenes in the movie were shot in Johor Bahru, Malaysia.
The film was selected in festivals like the prestigious Sitges International Fantastic Film Festival, Sci-Fi-London Oktoberfest, and Detroit Zombie Con. The film was first released in Germany in August 2013 (with limited screenings and on Blu-ray & DVD). It was released in the United States in February 18, 2014 on Blu-ray/DVD. It had theatrical releases in United Arab Emirates, India, Lebanon and South Korea.
