Based on the real life story of Parinya Charoenphol (aka Nong Toom)
After the sex change op, Nong Toom worked as an actress-cum-model based in Bangkok.
Director Ekachai Uekrongtham encouraged Asanee Suwan against playing the lead role as a stereotype, telling him "When you play Nong Toom, you have to believe you are a woman, not a lady-boy. If you think to yourself that you're playing a lady-boy, your body language will be flamboyant, over the top. But if you approach it as if you're playing a woman, you will be natural. Your acting will be sincere."
Asanee Suwan placed his real-life kickboxing career in jeopardy to appear in the film. His bosses - the owners of the gym he fought for - feared that acting wouldn't allow him to fight or train, and gave him an ultimatum to either do the movie or stay with the gym. However, they ended up retaining him despite his commitment to the film.
Asanee Suwan accidentally knocked out the opponent in the first boxing scene.
"Jack: But I still don't understand how your parents can be so... accepting... of the fact that you wanna be a girl. Nong Toom: They know it's my karma. I did bad thing in past life, so I had to suffer in this life. Jack: Where did you learn that from? Nong Toom: In the temple, when I was monk."
"Nong Toom: It seems like the more makeup I put on, the harder my opponents kick me, so I kick them back harder."
