The producer and director of Beti No. 1 had made a film titled CHIRAAG starring Rishi Kapoor. The film lay completed and unreleased due to the lack of distributors/buyers. The producer then made a very bold and daring decision. The producer remade the whole entire film taking Govinda in the lead titling it BETI NO. 1. The director only re shot mostly Rishi Kapoor and Mohini's scenes with Govinda and Rambha. He left the other scenes as is.
Govinda signed the film because he is very close to to his daughter.
Aruna Irani was paired opposite Ashok Saraf in many Hindi and Marathi film in this film she plays his mother.
The film was a box office failure.
The film was expected to be a great comedy as it had great comedians like Jhonny Lever,Govinda ,Ashok Saraf,Laxmikanth Berde,Rakesh Bedi,Guddi Maruti and Razzak Khan but did not live up to to the expectations.
