Tom Arnold said he accepted the role of Roscoe because the script seemed like a funny and touching metaphor on the subject of bullying. He said he was disappointed when the film underperformed and didnt turn out that way and he felt that during the making of the film that Rick Moranis disliked him and did not appreciate him as his costar. Moranis has never publicly expressed dislike for Arnold, and Arnold says he supports Moranis and his work.
