Doug, a down-on-his-luck Florida man grappling with drug addiction and the loss of his job, finds his life taking a bizarre turn when he discovers a wounded mermaid. He takes her in and nurses her back to health, finding a renewed sense of purpose in protecting his mythical discovery. As word of the mermaid spreads, he must go to great lengths to keep her safe from those who would exploit her.
