TRIVIA AND POPULAR DIALOGUES

Trivia

Film debut of Benicio Del Toro.

Due to Pee-wee's Big Adventure (1985) and this being produced by different studios (Warner Brothers for "Adventure," Paramount for this one), Danny Elfman's famous score for the earlier film could not be reused, so he had to compose a new score for this one.

For the movie's poster/VHS/DVD artwork; the body of Pee-Wee impersonator Jeff Scott was used; with Paul Reubens' head replacing Jeff's.

The writers imagined a back story to connect this film to Pee-wee's Big Adventure (1985): Pee Wee had become famous, due to the "Pee Wee's Big Adventure" feature film (starring James Brolin and Morgan Fairchild), inspired by his adventure. Pee Wee had a lot of girls flock over him, when he became a Frank Sinatra-like singer. But, Pee Wee had found fame too much and decided to fly away and live a quiet normal life as a farmer in an old folks' community.

The teaser trailer features no footage from the film, only Paul Reubens, as Pee-wee Herman, addressing the audience about the details of his latest film. It debuted in theaters in December 1987, a month before production on the film itself n began. Neither this teaser nor the full trailer appear on the DVD, although both are searchable online. The former appears at the beginning of the VHS for Beverly Hills Cop II (1987).

Popular Dialogues

"Pee-wee: [shouts impatiently] All I wanted was a measly sandwich! I very nicely explained that I was starving. I'm starving! PLEASE! Mr. Ryan: [defeatedly] Sorry, ladies. I guess you'll just have to wait. You remember, no one is as important in this community as Pee-wee Herman. All you other shoppers will just have to play second fiddle to Pee-wee. I guess that's just the way things are around here. My whole purpose in life is to serve Pee-wee Herman. And everything else comes second! [finishes Pee-wee's sandwich] Mr. Ryan: There's your sandwich. Is there anything else I can do for you, Pee-wee? Pee-wee: Well, I would like a pickle if it's not too much trouble. Mr. Ryan: No! No trouble at all, Pee-wee. Sorry, Otis. Sorry, Deke. [opens a barrel, knocking over Otis and Deke's chess board; extracts a pickle and hands it to Pee-wee] Mr. Ryan: Game's over. Pee-wee Herman wants a pickle. Here. Here's your darned pickle. Are you happy now? Pee-wee: Mmm-hmm."

"Vance: So how was lunch? Pee-wee: Fine, let's go get something to eat."
