Writers Katie Aselton and Mark Duplass are married.
Lake Bell said that after they finished filming this dark, intense thriller, she, Katie Aselton and Kate Bosworth all chose comedies to do next.
When Katie Aselton pitched the film to Lake Bell, who she already knew, Bell agreed to come onboard right after reading the script. Then Bell suggested Kate Bosworth for the third lead, but Aselton wasn't sure. She didn't feel like it was her type of movie because she's such a chic actress. Aselton didn't think she'd be interested in crawling through the mud. But after she met with Bosworth, Bosworth got really excited about it and wanted to be part of it. Aselton said she ended up being the perfect choice for the role.
The married writers have also worked together on TV projects Togetherness and The League.
Katie Aselton said that filming was such a nightmare on location, but Lake Bell and Kate Bosworth were wonderful to work with. They all had the right attitude and toughed it out together, especially when they had to strip naked and huddle together for hours to shoot one scene in the freezing cold.
