Despite being conceived as a straight-to-DVD film, the movie did receive a theatrical release in a few countries, such as Russia, Italy, Mexico, and Venezuela.
Lucy Lawless, who was the star of Xena: Warrior Princess (1995), was in Boogeyman (2005), while her Xena costar, Renée O'Connor, was in this sequel. The producers of Xena, Rob Tapert and Sam Raimi, are the producers of the Boogeyman films.
Editor Jeff Betancourt's directorial debut.
While most straight-to-DVD films are released in the TV 1.78:1 aspect ratio (which fully fills a standard widescreen TV), this film is uncharastically presented in the much wider 2.35:1 ratio.
