    A hockey enthusiast since 12 years of age, Toronto-based Rajvinder Singh, even went to the extent of trimming his hair, discarding his Pagri/turban, did not complete his education, incurred the wrath of his father, Darvesh, who wanted him to be involved in the family business as well as confirm and respect Sikh religion principles and values. Hoping to play professional hockey, Rajvinder, along with other fellow Sikh players, instead finds himself treated as the object of ridicule, referred to as a 'joker', by mainstream Caucasian players. There is a scene where Rob Lowe's character is wearing a Mustang's #10 shirt, an homage to Youngblood (1986) where he, portraying Dean Youngblood, was #10 for the Mustangs.

On set in Ontario, a homeless man wandered onto the set and was caught stealing food from the lunch table. Drake intervened and the man was later on set as an extra.

In the last scene on the ice, you can see Jesus Christ's face in the ice.
