The movie is a remake of The Fall Guy (1981). In it, Lee Majors played Colt Seavers, a Hollywood stuntman who also moonlights as a bounty hunter when there is little movie work. Majors himself and the show's famous vehicle, the 1981 GMC K-2500 Wideside, will appear in the film.
Ryan Gosling had a chance encounter with Steven Spielberg, who told him he loved this movie. Gosling said, "As far as I'm concerned it doesn't matter anymore what happens. Steven Spielberg liked it. That was an all time moment for me. I'm really excited for people to see it. I think it's a really special movie."
David Leitch made the choice to direct this movie instead of Will Smith's Fast and Loose the week before Smith slapped Chris Rock at The Oscars (2022).
This movie had been in development since 2010. Tom Cruise, Keanu Reeves, Nicolas Cage, Jason Statham, and Dwayne Johnson were all eyed to play Colt Seavers over the years.
The film cast includes three Oscar nominees: Ryan Gosling, Emily Blunt and Stephanie Hsu.
