Call It Love is a romantic drama series that follows the story of Shim Woo-ju, whose father abandons the family and elopes with another woman. After his death, Woo-ju and her siblings are forced to move out of their home when it is inherited by the woman her father eloped with. The overall storytelling experience of Call It Love is a mixed one. The plot doesn't seem to move forward, and the show relies on forced cliffhangers to keep viewers interested. However, the last few episodes offer a refreshing change. The show becomes more character-driven and focused around a common central plot. Kim Young-kwang's portrayal of Dong-jin is one of the show's highlight as he brings depth to his character. Lee Sung-kyung's performance as Woo-ju is also commendable. The chemistry between the two actors is subtle as it shows chemistry more than a fired-up romance. Overall, Call It Love tells a familiar story of love and loss, but it's only rewarding if you're willing to sit through the slow first two-thirds of the series.
